Friel on Friel

I'm in a recovery week between Build 1 and Build 2, and training volume should be around 7 hours total. I'll probably go over since its Wednesday morning, and I'm at 5 hours so far. The warm weather has a lot to do with it, I'm sure. Volume for each of the next three weeks is 12 hours with 1/4 of that coming from the long Sunday ride.

I had a great ride last Sunday. I did a portion of the Beaver Dam Loop and got in about 30 miles; weather was awesome. A funny moment happened when a totally "geeked out" triathlete caught up to me and started talking. I was in my own little world, and he startled me to the point I almost crashed. Now, I said this guy was "geeked out"; he had every piece of tri gear on his body and his bike (QR, sweet ride). We chatted at the red light at Six Forks and 98, and once we took off I tried to keep up, but he was too strong.

The posts of IM Arizona have been truly inspiring; congratulations to all who achieved their goals!

What did you think of the route? Old Weaver has some good flat stretches, but I've never been on Beaver Dam loop. I think somewhere off of that is where they ran the Blue Devil IM. I've got the bike course map and plan to ride the course this summer some time!

Way to go on the killer ride :) I hope the headwinds chill around here - I need to get out Sunday and try for some decent distance. There are a coulple mistery "geeks" on my route too, Lance incarnates or something, it's crazy!
